Licensing and Registering the Borland Enterprise Server

This Borland Technical Publications Document describes the licensing options for the Borland Enterprise Server. It also provides information on registering your copy of the Borland Enterprise Server.

How to Enter License Keys and Register your server

Important: The Borland Enterprise Server products have two different types of licenses: one for development (which includes the capability to test in a deployment environment for 48 consecutive hours) and one for deployment. See below for license details and restrictions.

You enter your license information and register your server from the same Console dialog. To enter this information, perform the following:

  1. Select Enterprise Servers in the Navigation Pane of the console
  2. Select the server that you wish to license
  3. Select the license tab in the Contents Pane
  4. If no licensing information appears in the panel, select the "Update License" button and enter your licensing information. Otherwise you may update the existing information.

  5. Enter serial number and key and click OK
  6. To update and/or upgrade your license, click the "Update License" button.
  7. To register your server, click the "Register Server" button. A registration wizard appears. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Borland Enterprise Server licenses

The Borland Enterprise Server now has two separate licenses, one for development testing purposes and one for deployment. See below for license details and restrictions.

Development License Key

This license key is unique and only works for one instance of the Borland Enterprise Server. It is used for development purposes only. For testing purposes, you can run deployment services for 48 consecutive hours, after which services automatically shut down and need to be restarted. For full deployment capabilities you need a unique deployment license key for each instance of the Borland Enterprise Server.

Deployment License Key

This license key is unique and only works for one instance of the Borland Enterprise Server. The server will not start if there is another instance of the server using the same serial number and authorization key in the network.

Borland Enterprise Server registration

Please complete registration for the Borland Enterprise Server. Registration is accessible through the Console's Navigation Pane at the server level.
