These installation notes provide installation instructions for this release of CaliberRM for Visual Studio Team System.

For information on system requirements please see the Borland® CaliberRM™ for Microsoft® Visual Studio® Team System Release Notes available in the root directory on your installation CD and in the C:\Program Files\Borland\CaliberRM Client For Visual Studio Team System\Documentation\ default directory after the installation.

Installation and Setup Instructions

Prior to installing CaliberRM for Visual Studio Team System, please make sure you have the various Visual Studio 2005 Team System components listed in the "System Requirements/Prerequisites" section of the Borland® CaliberRM™ for Microsoft® Visual Studio® Team System Release Notes installed.

Important! You must install the CaliberRM for Team Foundation Server component prior to installing the CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System or the CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System – Traceability Add-ins components.

Installing CaliberRM for Team Foundation Server

This component enables the CaliberRM integration in Team Foundation Server. It must be installed on the machine where Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server is installed. Please make sure you have Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server installed prior to installing CaliberRM for Team Foundation Server.

  1. Launch the executable setup.exe file from the installation CD.
  2. Select Server Components.
  3. Select Server. The CaliberRM for Team Foundation Server InstallShield Wizard starts and the Welcome screen appears.
  4. Follow the instructions of the InstallShield Wizard to complete the CaliberRM for Team Foundation Server installation.

Note: In a single-server installation of Team Foundation Server select (local) in the drop-down list of available Team Foundation database servers. In a dual-server installation of Team Foundation Server browse to the Team Foundation database server location on another computer. Alternately you can enter the IP address or the name of the computer where Team Foundation database server resides. For more information on dual server configuration refer to the Visual Studio® Team Foundation Installation Guide.

Installing the CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System

This component enables the CaliberRM integration for Visual Studio Team System users. It must be installed by each Visual Studio Team System user machine to access CaliberRM requirements from within Visual Studio and establish traceability between requirements and Visual Studio Team System work items and tests from Visual Studio. Please make sure you have Visual Studio 2005 installed prior to installing CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System.

  1. Launch the executable setup.exe file from the installation CD.
  2. Select Client Components.
  3. Select Client to install the CaliberRM client for Visual Studio Team System and its subfeatures together with traceability add-ins. The CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System InstallShield Wizard starts and the Welcome screen appears.
  4. Follow the instructions of the InstallShield Wizard to complete the installation of the CaliberRM client plugin for Visual Studio Team System and its subfeatures together with traceability add-ins.

Installing the CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System – Traceability Add-ins

This component enables the CaliberRM integration for CaliberRM Windows client users. It must be installed by the CaliberRM administrator who will setup the integration. Once installed, this component enables CaliberRM users to view traceability from requirements to Visual Studio Team System work items and tests from the standalone CaliberRM Windows client.
This component includes two CaliberRM vendor add-ins, one for requirements to works items traceability, the other for requirements to Visual Studio Team System test traceability.
Please make sure you have Visual Studio 2005 Team Explorer installed prior to installing CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System – Traceability Add-ins.

Visual Studio users: The add-ins are installed automatically with the CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System. You do not need to install the add-ins if you install the client.

CaliberRM users: Install the add-ins to access Visual Studio Team System work items and tests from CaliberRM traceability views.

  1. Launch the executable setup.exe file from the installation CD.
  2. Select Client Components.
  3. Select Traceability Add-ins to install the CaliberRM traceability add-ins only. The CaliberRM for Visual Studio Team System – Traceability Add-ins InstallShield Wizard starts and the Welcome screen displays.
  4. Follow the instructions of the InstallShield Wizard to complete the installation of the CaliberRM traceability add-ins only.

Note: Borland recommends the C:\Program Files\Borland\CaliberRM for Visual Studio Team System\ directory as the default directory for installing CaliberRM add-ins.

Important! After you installed the add-ins, the CaliberRM administrator must enable them for specific CaliberRM projects. See the "Enabling the CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System – Traceability Add-Ins" section below for details.

Enabling the CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System – Traceability Add-Ins

To trace requirements to Visual Studio Team System work items, you must enable the add-in as follows:

  1. In the Framework Administrator, select the project in which you want to enable the integration.
  2. Select the External Traceability tab.
  3. Click the New button.
  4. In the New Integration dialog box, enter a Vendor Name. This name will appear as a tab in the Traceability Modification window. "VSTS Work Items", for example.
  5. In the Library Name box, enter VSTS (exact match required).
  6. Click the Change Icon... button and select the icon you would like to associate with the integration.
  7. Click OK.
  8. In the Disabled section, select the new integration and click the Move Left button (<).
  9. Click the Save button to save the project.

To trace requirements to Visual Studio Team System tests, you must enable the add-in as follows:

  1. In the Framework Administrator, select the project in which you want to enable the integration.
  2. Select the External Traceability tab.
  3. Click the New button.
  4. In the New Integration dialog box, enter a Vendor Name. This name will appear as a tab in the Traceability Modification window. "VSTS Tests", for example.
  5. In the Library Name box, enter VSTSTests (exact match required) .
  6. Click the Change Icon... button and select the icon you would like to associate with the integration.

Silent Installation Instructions

You can install all components of CaliberRM for Visual Studio Team System using a silent installation process that uses command line options to run the installation.

Before running the silent installation scripts, please make sure all machines comply to the system requirements specified in the Borland® CaliberRM™ for Microsoft® Visual Studio® Team System Release Notes.

Installing CaliberRM for Team Foundation Server

Enter the following command in the command prompt:

C:\installhome\Server\8.1\DiskImages\DISK1\setup /s /v"/le \"server.log\" /qn INSTALLDIR=\"C:\Program Files\Borland\CaliberRM For Team Foundation Server\" IS_SQLSERVER_SERVER=servername AgreeToLicense2=Yes"

Installing CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System

Prior to running the client installation create the client response file by running the client setup with the following command:

C:\installhome\Client\8.1\DiskImages\DISK1\setup /r /f1"client.iss"

Enter the following command in the command prompt:

C:\installhome\Client\8.1\DiskImages\DISK1\setup /s /f1"client.iss" /f2"client.log"

Installing CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System – Traceability Add-ins

Enter the following command in the command prompt:

C:\installhome\Traceability Addins\8.1\DiskImages\DISK1\setup" /s /v"/le \"addin.log\" /qn INSTALLDIR=\"C:\Program Files\Borland\CaliberRM Plugin for Visual Studio Team System\" AgreeToLicense2=Yes"

Uninstallation Instructions

  1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs from the menu.
  2. Select CaliberRM for Team Foundation Server, CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System, or CaliberRM Client for Visual Studio Team System – Traceability Add-ins.
  3. Click the Remove button to uninstall the selected CaliberRM for Visual Studio Team System component.
