System Requirements

This section lists the requirements for the StarTeam Version Control Add-in for TestDirector for Quality Center.

Platforms

The StarTeam Version Control Add-in for TestDirector for Quality Center can run on the same systems supported by TestDirector for Quality Center Web server with the exception of the Windows 2000 Server.

Supported Versions of the StarTeam Server

The StarTeam Version Control Add-in for TestDirector for Quality Center supports the following versions of the StarTeam Server

• StarTeam 2005 R2 Server
• StarTeam 2006 Server
• StarTeam 2008 Server

Supported Versions of TestDirector for Quality Center

The StarTeam Version Control Add-in for TestDirector for Quality Center supports the following version of TestDirector for Quality Center:

• TestDirector for Quality Center 9.0
• TestDirector for Quality Center 9.2

Installation Instructions

Prior to installing the StarTeam 2008 Version Control Add-in for TestDirector for Quality Center, you must uninstall any previous version along with the Mercury Quality Center Third Party Vendor's Add-in, and reboot.

To install the StarTeam Version Control Add-in for TestDirector for Quality Center, perform the following steps:

1. On the Web server running Test Director for Quality Center, access the following Web site: http://www.borland.com/downloads/download_starteam_integrations.html
2. Click the appropriate link and download the installation file for the StarTeam Version Control Add-in for TestDirector for Quality Center.
3. Run the file.
4. Follow the instructions on pages of the installation wizard.
5. If JBoss is the Test Director for Quality Center Web server, perform the following steps:
   1. Stop the Test Director for Quality Center Web server.
   2. From the command line, go to the installation directory of JBoss and use the following commands:
      • ..\Quality Center\jboss\bin\InstallJBossService.bat -uninstall
      • ..\Quality Center\jboss\bin\InstallJBossService.bat -c default
      • ..\Quality Center\ jboss\bin\ InstallJBossService.bat -install
   3. Restart the Test Director for Quality Center Web server.
      

Known Issues

• While enabling version control for a project, you are asked whether you want to add tests to the new version control database. Do not use the first option "Yes, Quality Center creates a new version control database and adds all tests from your Quality Center project....." If this option is selected, the operation fails. Instead, select "No, Quality Center creates a new empty version control database..." The tests will be added later as you perform version control operations on them.

• When two users perform concurrent operations (for example, Get Latest), one user may see a message about the test being locked, even though the lock is in place only briefly.

• When you select Undo Checkout to discard changes to a test, a warning does not inform you that your changes will be lost. Instead, a standard confirmation message displays.

• When version control is enabled and TestDirector for Quality Center uses an Access database, multiple users cannot concurrently perform the same operation, such as checking out or adding a file.

• If you use the TestDirector for Quality Center Site Administration to disable the StarTeam Version Control Add-in for TestDirector for Quality Center when tests are checked out and locked, you cannot immediately restart the Add-in. Instead, you must use the StarTeam client to unlock the tests before restarting the Add-in.
